Dear Lovers of Children's World,
I am delighted to welcome you all to the 16th International
Children’s Film Festival, India The AP Govt.'s wholehearted
support has made it possible for CFSI to celebrate films from
all over the world with children and film lovers in the beautiful
city of Hyderabad.
This year we have an interesting range of films from around
the world. And to broaden the festival experience, we have
a series of workshops, conducted by experts that are going
to enthrall the children. All the stakeholders, be it filmmakers,
writers, educators, parents and of course children themselves,
will participate in open forums that will debate a range of
pertinent questions. The festival aims to make the week of
14th - 20th Nov 2009, a week of celebration, meaningful dialogue
and beyond-the-festival collaborations among various participants.
We are confident that the eminent juries and delegates from
all over the world will make this festival truly international.
We are proud to introduce The Golden Elephant for the well-deserved
Asian section along with the International section. This year
we have ensured that equal prominence is given to both, in
terms of awards and jury. Another first is to have a Children's
Jury for both the sections. I am also happy to share that
this year films were selected not only by a special committee
of experts, but also a cross section of children were involved.
In the series of firsts, CFSI and UNICEF India are partnering
towards promoting a holistic approach to child rights. Coinciding
with the 20th anniversary of Convention on the Rights of the
Child, the festival is also celebrating the 'right to entertainment
as a basic child right'.
I would like to appreciate all the effort put by the teams
of CFSI, AP Govt, UNICEF and all other partners who have contributed
towards this year's festival. But finally it will be all of
you who will make this festival truly memorable.
Look forward to meeting you all. what say?!
