My Dear Children,
It is 14th November again, and after a gap of one year the
Golden Elephant is back in Hyderabad. This is the 8th time
in succession that Hyderabad is hosting this biennial event
. This “city of pearls” is also one of the most
important film producing centres in the country. This year
too, we have put together a string of beautiful films and
activities for your entertainment. There can be no better
way of celebrating the birth anniversary of your beloved“
Chacha” Nehru than witness the curtain raiser of the
week long extravaganza of films made specially for you from
across the world. The Children's Film Society, India in association
with the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh is organizing the 16th edition
of the prestigious International Children's Film Festival.
The city will be decked up to receive our honourable guests.
You will have a glorious opportunity to interact with friends
from other parts of the country and abroad. I am sure all
of you will make new friends, learn about each other's culture,
share your experiences, watch movies and have lots of fun
together. But that's not all, you will also have an opportunity
to learn a few things as well. Yes, my dear children, we have
some workshops for you also. So that when you go back home,
you take along with you some new skill and knowledge.
While you enjoy watching films and participate in the festivities
around, some of us will deliberate upon issues that need serious
attention. Parents, teachers, film makers and specialists
from various walks of life will come together to discuss how
we can make better films for your entertainment. We are committed
to making your world more enjoyable and memorable. Therefore,
when you are away for another two years, you can rest assured
that we will be working harder to make the next festival even
better and more enjoyable.
This year we also have UNICEF joining hands with us. They
will bring in their vast experience of working with children
all over the world and also show you some of their finest
films. They will teach you how to make a film as well. So
do not miss the opportunity to participate in as many activities
that have been designed for you. I am sure all of you will
make the best of your stay in Hyderabad and share your experience
with your friends when you go back home.
